"Top Of The World"

“…The two shadows of the Churchill Peaks, the 19,470 foot north and 20,320 foot south summits of Denali stretch far into the heart of Denali National Park in this spectacular winter view from 33,000 feet of the Top of the World. Wonder Lake is just to the left of the shadow and the entire McKinley River drainage below that left to right. In the far distance the view from left to right are the Kantishna Hills bisected by the flats and the Toklat River drainage to the north on the far horizon. The peaks on the far right are the northern foothills of the Alaska Range looking towards Mt. Galen, Thorofare Pass and Stony Dome. The West and South Buttresses and the Southeast Spur are all visible and the flat snowfield of Thayer Basin just above the spur. The Traleika Glacier winds its way down to the Muldrow Glacier in the far right. At bottom center in the shadow of the South Buttress is the Kahiltna Notch. High winds keep the steep granite faces scoured clean and snow-free...."
