“…The full moon begins to set directly over Mt. Susitna (Sleeping Lady) hanging like a pearl in the shadow opposite dawn. The terminus of the Susitna River drainage lies in the foreground where all the rivers of the Susitna Valley drain into Cook Inlet & Knik Arm. The full moon only sets in this location twice a year, once in the springtime & once in autumn. The arc of the moon in the northern hemisphere is never constant & covers extremes of rising for as long as 22 hours or not even rising at all during Alaska’s long summers…”
