Copper River Halo

Copper River Halo

Alaska Aurora Photography

Winter still grips the mighty Copper River as it carves the western edge of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, its icy surface slowing the great river's surge toward the sea. A sweeping view of volcanic peaks and vast wilderness frames this extraordinary moment where river, mountain and sky converge in the last great wild landscape.

About This Photograph

After several hours of watching multiple arcs dance in the far north, a sudden energetic burst of elegant aurora swirls through the starfields, briefly forming a brilliant halo above the great peaks and the Copper River Basin…”
